Proverbs 3: 11-12 My son, do not despise the LORD’s discipline, and do not resent his rebuke, because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in. I was listening to former NFL player Shannon Sharpe talk about reaching your highest level and he brought up an old quote that says ” everyone wants to go to heaven but no one wants to die”. I then asked myself do we really have to die to get what God has for us? My answer was NO! Well, at least not that slow singing flower bringing kind of death. Actually, God has a plan for the living to succeed right here on earth. I can confidently say this because the when the Children Of Israel entered the Promised Land they were alive. God planted Adam in a perfect earth and then gave him life not death. Now of course the next question has to be how do we get our ” Promised Land”? Well, one of the key steps for anyone looking to reach their Promised Land is correction or as we call in business feedback.

Feedback is the easiest way to improve but the hardest thing for people to accept. The world has conditioned us to believe feedback back is a painful punishment. Therefore it causes us to run from the very thing we need to get better. How many people get really get excited about their performance review? Most people jump right out their skin soon as they hear ” we need to talk”. It releases anxiety to the point some people suddenly get sick and go home for the day just to avoid sitting down to discuss their performance.

God’s uses feedback very differently. His goal for feedback is to make you more productive, so you can have all the things His word promises. John 15 1-2 describes it best “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.” The feedback allows you to know where your weaknesses are so you can correct them. Some people reading this are going to say but that’s God doing the pruning not man. They are right, but God uses people to get things done in this realm, so it only make sense that your help would come from the people put in charge of the earthly matters.

If your goal is to get to your Promised Land, you are going to have to learn what to do and what not to do. God has been using His version of feedback for thousands of years. A great example of this is the ” Ten Commandments”. The “Ten Commandments” were the ten things they needed to fix in order to get into their Promised Land. They were lucky because Moses did the heavy lifting of the Commandments. The world has made us feel ashamed for asking for feedback. We don’t ask in school, on our jobs or in our relationships. Not asking has created a glass ceiling on our blessings. It keeps us bound and walking in darkness.

The benefits of feedback are endless, because the better your understanding, the better your outcomes. Proverbs 3: 13-14 says it like this “Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. If you still have any doubt about whither or not you should ask look at what God says in James 1:5 “If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”

My goal is to shed light on the things we may have forgotten or were never taught, so that we can move into our Promised Land. It is more important that ever that we get what God’s has for us, because once we have it we can help our fellow man. I ask that you assist me in doing what God has called me to do by sharing this blog. I also ask that you leave your comments, so I can get some feedback as well.

Thank You and God Bless
